National Trust Quarry Bank Guidebook Online

Quarry Bank was once home to a complete industrial community where owner and worker lived side by side. At its heart is the River Bollin, which powered the machines that powered the mill. Owner Samuel Greg saw the potential of the river and, in 1784, established his cotton mill on its banks.

The story of Quarry Bank is rooted in the Industrial Revolution and the cotton trade, but it’s also about the Greg family, the mill workers and their families, the child apprentices and Styal village.
